Free commercial-free radio

Don’t even think about paying $10 or more per month for satellite radio service.  You can get the same exact thing right now on your home computer or laptop.  Some people have figured out that you can purchase a radio scanner and just set it in between a certain Mhz frequency to pick up some of the XM and Sirius stations.  This is a bit sketchy, and I have better alternatives below anyway (arguably better).

  1. Pandora Radio (http://www.pandora.com/) – This is a commercial-free radio station that is 100% customizable.  You type in an artist, and a custom station is created that only plays artists and music similar to the original.  If you want to change music, simply type in another artist.  Also, you can skip up to 6 songs per hour per station.

  2. AOL Radio (http://music.aol.com/radioguide/bb) – offers hundreds of free radio stations live from across the country and commercial-free internet radio.  Almost every genre conceivable is available, and the quality is impeccable.

  3. Get Unlimited Free Trials of XM Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio Online – sign up for a new email address somewhere or go to Jetable (http://www.jetable.org), a temporary email service, and sign up.  Next, Go to the XM Radio Trial sign up (http://xmro.xmradio.com/xstream/registration/registration.jsp?userForward=default) and the Sirius Radio trial (http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/Page&c=FlexContent&cid=1093551681616&source=069&occ=06904).  After that, sign up using the temporary or new email address.  You will be emailed a password for the trial periods.  After the trials expire, you can sign up again using a new or temporary email address.
