strategies for getting free things and lots of them
Following some of these strategies will allow you to maximize the amount of free items you can get in a short period of time.
- Make sure you have a name, address, email, telephone number, business name, and possibly other information that you are willing to give out to various companies. If you would prefer to maintain your privacy and not enter your current information for these categories, you can always obtain a new email, a free voicemail number, and alter your address, name, and business name. Some of these companies will call / email you.
- Make sure you use a program that automatically fills in form fields to save time.
- Go through these forums every day when you have free time. You never know when you’ll miss exciting free items that you might really want, such as a free sample bottle of vodka or two free tickets to a Texas Rangers game.
- If you have created a separate email address to use for free stuff, make sure to check is periodically. I actually check mine every day. Sometimes you will have to click on a link to confirm a submission, or additional opportunities will be emailed to you (although most of the email you will receive at this account will be spam).
- If you sign up for something you really want and you never receive it, make sure to follow up. I once had signed up for a $25 NFL.com gift certificate, and once I had not received it by the end of the delivery period, I emailed the company asking what had happened. They apologized and decided to send me a $25 check instead. Remember, however, that some of these free items may take up to 8 weeks or in some cases longer to arrive.
- If you have multiple physical addresses at your disposal, it may be appropriate to sign up for a free item twice, once using each address.
