Charles Schwab High Yield Investor Checking Account (http://www.schwab.com/public/schwab/banking_lending/checking) – this is by far one of the best checking accounts I have ever come across. It is stocked with features that you just cannot find by going down to any bank in your neighborhood. This account has a variable APY interest rate with no minimum balance. The current balance is 0.75% APY, but it was 3% when I joined, and it changes often. Generally, you have to pay a monthly fee to have interest on your checking balance, but not here. This account offers free Bill Pay, which is surprisingly not offered by all that many banks. I remember signing up with Chase only to be charged $10 a month for the service, much to my chagrin. The account comes with a Visa Platinum Debit Card with no monthly fee (standard), but additionally you get an unlimited amount of free checks. Just request them online. I was even able to request a free leather padded checkbook. You can get overdraft protection, and your account is currently insured up to $250,000. The best part by far about this account, however, is that you pay no ATM fees; I once withdrew some cash at a strip club where the ATM fee was an unbelievable $15, and I was refunded the amount at the end of the month. You are refunded any ATM fees you incur throughout the month with no limit. The only downside to this checking account is that you will need to mail in deposits, but you can request an unlimited number of postage-paid envelopes for this. I have never had a better checking account.

PayPal Debit Card (http://www.paypal.com/) – once you have been a PayPal member for two months, you are eligible to apply for this card. It is linked directly to your account, and gives you 1% cashback on all purchases, credited to you account within mere days. If you do any business on eBay, this is perfect to use for paying fees and costs associated with your account. In one month I saved $27.
